Guiding Light!Trust in the Lord! With the events that has taken place last week many, many people have become overwhelmed and fearful of the past, present and the future. God did not give us a heart of fear, or anger, or frustration, He gave us a heart of love, joy, compassion and forgiveness. Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you." Isaiah 35:4 In times like this we need to turn to God our deliverer and our savior. We cannot lean on our own understanding in times like this, we have no answer, no understanding, nor any comprehension of why these things took place. God did not do this to us, God cannot be tempted with evil, He is a God of love. Now remember this world is under satan's control and God allows him to do terrible things sometimes to test our faith and trust in Him. You say why would God allow something like this to happen to innocent people? Possibly there are several reasons that God and God alone only knows. Think of it this way, when our children act disobedient we must correct them is a way that gets there attention. We don't want to hurt them, but we know it is for their own good. It brings them back into submission to the rules and instructions set forth. And good comes from an obedient child in many different ways and we will bless them for their proper behavior. Just as we correct and discipline our children, God corrects and disciplines His children (you and I), without discipline we will run a muck and get into all kinds of trouble that does not edify God. He disciplines us because He loves us, just like we do with our own children. Just as He disciplines us as a person, He will discipline us as a body and as a country. Lets think back a couple of hundred years ago when our country was formed. Our country was based on sound Biblical principles by a group of God fearing citizens. We connected God and country, there was no separation of the two. By this I believe God overwhelmingly blessed America. We obeyed His instructions, we honored Him in all that we did, and we feared Him. Look at America in just a few hundred years we have become the #1 world super power. We haven't done this on our own, God has played a significant role in blessing us as a country and as a people. Well many years have passed and we have managed to push God out of our life, out of our Government, and out of our schools. We have become tolerant to many, many sins that we would of never accepted in years past. We have let our media brainwash us with false values and trash on the television, radio and newsprint's. We have killed over 30 million babies in abortion in the name of free choice. We have become an island unto ourselves because of our power to earn money and fame. We have isolated ourselves from God's word and grown disobedient to His instructions. God will allow us to make our own choices anytime and in anyway we desire, but we will have to answer for them eventually. Do you think God is happy with our country and where it has gone? I don't think so! Do you think through these past events that this just may be a wake up call for us to return to our former ways of obeying God? Let us try and look at the events from God's perspective, is He calling us back to Himself? Does He love us so much that He don't want to destroy us? Just look back in history at past governments that God blessed, what happen to them for being disobedient? We are not immune to God's judgment. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. Revelation 2:4-5 We have forsaken our first love, God! Here God is telling us, "He will come and remove your lampstand from its place". What do you suppose God is referring to when He talks about our lampstand? Could it be our protection He has granted us in this country? Do you think it could be our freedom as we know it? Could it possibly mean America as we know it? Think on these things! I think it is time we reevaluate ourselves and our country. Where do we stand before God? It is never too late to repent and ask for God's forgiveness, He is just and faithful to forgive us and bring us back into His fold. Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. Psalm 28:2 Cry out to God and seek His mercy, He is waiting for us to call on Him with a broken heart and He will forgive us and keep us. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:1 Turn to Jesus as you did in the beginning, on your knees seeking forgiveness, repenting of your sinful ways. Not just you and me, but America as a whole. It is time for us as Americans to take a stand for what we believe and to let our leaders know just what we believe. We can let them know by letters, emails, phone calls and by how we vote. Take the time to call or write your elected officials and let them know where you stand and that we want God back in the main focus of our lives and in the main focus of our country. We cannot stand still any longer, our voice must be heard or we will suffer the consequences of our choices or lack of choices. Let us also remember those families that have lost loved ones in these events. Pray that God will comfort them in their time of sorrow and need. Pray for all the rescue people who are giving of themselves unrelentlishly without regard for themselves. Pray for those who are behind this attack and ask God to forgive them, they know not what they did. Most of all pray for our people that all will come to a full knowledge of Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. It is our honor and our duty to tell people about what God has done for us and what He will do for them. From our hearts with a personal meaning to the phrase we say, " God Bless America ". Heavenly Father, it is our prayer today that you will forgive us personally and corporately as a country for we have sinned against you and you alone. Restore us Father to a rightful place in your kingdom, be merciful on us and grant us our request of forgiveness. Hear our hearts and our pleas, do not forsake us Father. Create in us a clean heart oh God, and restore a right spirit within us. Cast us not away from your presence oh Lord. We humbly come before you Father on bended knee seeking your grace and your mercy. Thank you Father for this life you have given us, we dedicate it to you today and commit to follow your instructions daily from this day forward. We honor and praise your most Holy name....in Jesus name we pray.........amen In Christ's Service, Kenny Millhouse kenny@guidinglightministry.com This is a weekly service brought to you by Guiding Light Ministry, if you enjoy receiving these messages, please send us an email sharing your thoughts and words of encouragement.
