Eternal Life The Promise of God!
At times the Christian may doubt their eternal life or not have the confidence of knowing for sure that they are going to be in Heaven with God. I would like to ask you two questions;
1. Have you come to the place in your spiritual life that you believe that if you were to die tonight, you would go to Heaven?

2. Suppose you were to die tonight and stand before God and He were to say to you, "Why should I let you into my Heaven?" What would you say?

If you answered question #1 something like this; I hope so or I think so or I am not sure. These are fairly common answers. In a moment I will show you how you can know for sure that you will go to Heaven.
If you answered question #2 something like this; Well I have been a really good person or I have went to church for 40 years or I have helped many people in their time of need or I have given my money to my church regularly. These also are fairly common answers. Let me show you from the Bible what it says about eternal life.
First we must believe that the Bible is God's inspired word. Now that we believe what God is telling us through the Bible, listen to these words of scripture;
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." John 3:36
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
As we read these verses, we can now know without a doubt we have eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. As you noticed they say, "have or has", not maybe or could have, or if you are a really good person. It is a definite statement that we will have eternal life to those who believe in Jesus Christ as the living Son of God, who died for us, and has risen to be at the right hand of God.
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10
Have you taken the first step of repentance? If not, then go to God in prayer right now and confess your sins and ask God to forgive you, He is just and faithful to fulfill His promise to you. If you have-Congratulations! As Peter says; "Repent and be baptized", after you have repented go and be baptized, being obedient to the word of God. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Now you can know for sure that you will have eternal life. So when you are asked question #1 you can say unequivocally "YES" I am going to Heaven. And, when you are asked question #2 you can answer God and say, "Because I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and I believe that He is the Son of the living God and that scripture promises me because of this confession I will have eternal life with You.
Praise God! We can now look forward with confidence that we will one day be with God in Heaven. Just as Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you." John 14:2
Jesus is going to prepare a place for us! Our own room in God's house. There is nothing here on this earth that can take away that promise. We are going to our Heavenly Home!
Heavenly Father, we are in awe of you and all that you are. We cannot fully comprehend the fullest of your love for us, but, we accept it with your blessings and we shall strive to be the person you desire for us to be. We thank you Father for your promise of eternal life and we look forward to being with you soon. We can understand part of your love for us, in that you sacrificed your own Son so that we may receive forgiveness of sins through His blood. Praise You Father! Heavenly Father, it is our desire to love you and to obey your instructions, give us strength each day to be strong to make the right choices to edify you. We sing praises to you Father and we love you with all of our being..........in Jesus name we pray.........amen
