Guiding Light! How Thankful I Am!How thankful I am to Christ Jesus our Lord for considering me trustworthy and appointing me to serve Him. 1 Timothy 1:12 Consider the words of the Apostle Paul when writing to Timothy, his true child in faith. He expresses his thankfulness to Jesus for considering him for service in His Kingdom. Paul knew the true meaning of a personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ. He did this through obedience and love for our Father in Heaven. When we submit ourselves completely to God, He will see us as trustworthy and He will appoint us to serve Him here and now. What better calling can we have? We have all at times wished we could be appointed to a position of high honor and authority. When we are looked upon with honor and authority in this world, we are bringing glory to ourselves. He who is obedient to God's word is already appointed to a position of high honor and this brings honor and glory to God and not ourselves. Oh, how kind and gracious the Lord was! He filled me completely with faith and the love of Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:14 We see the true heart of Paul here. He recognizes who is being honored and where all blessings and grace comes from, our Father in Heaven. Paul sees God for His unconditional love in being kind and gracious to an unworthy person. We are all unworthy, but God is Love! He will fill us with that same love and faith when we are obedient to Him and when we seek to have a personal relationship with Him. Though we become obedient to God through the activities we perform, we are not called to a task, a mission, a job, or a ministry. We are called to a relationship with God. This is what God desires first and foremost, a relationship with Him. When we develop that relationship with Him, then we are right in the middle of His will. This way we will see the activities of God in ordinary circumstances of life. God is at work all around us everyday, all we need to be is attentive to Him and He will invite us to work with Him for His glory. Today, consider your relationship with God, is it where you want it to be? If not, submit to God and tell Him that you want to be closer to Him today. Act upon your commitment to developing a closer relationship with God by being obedient to His instructions. Showing love, spending time in the word, spending time in prayer, fellowshipping with other believers on the sabbath, and spending time listening to what God is saying. Heavenly Father, it is our prayer today to offer up thanks to you for your unlimited grace you show us. We thank you Father for considering us to be a part of your Kingdom work. We promise today to be more attentive to your calling and more faithful in your instructions you have set before us. Help us Father to see you more clearly and to know your ways better. We are your child Father, teach us and train us to become more like Jesus. When we step out of line, bring us back to obedience in whatever way necessary so we will be called worthy for you. Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that you chose us, even before time, to be a part of your Kingdom work. We praise and glorify your name, it is in Jesus name we pray........amen In Christ Service, Kenny Millhouse kenny@guidinglightministry.com This is a weekly service brought to you by Guiding Light Ministry, if you enjoy receiving these messages, please send us an email sharing your thoughts and words of encouragement.
