Set the example!
In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. Titus 2:7-8
How many times have we told our children to do something and then turn around and do the opposite of what we told them to do? What do you think they learn from this? It is okay for dad/mom to do it, because they are adults or do they think how contradictory we are for not practicing what we preach? Children as well as adults learn more from us by our actions than our words. What example are you setting for those around you?
This hit home again as I was studying for teaching a class on our personal follow-up ministry last week. I sat down and thought back just over the last week, how did I present myself to those I was around each day? Unfortunately, not as good as God would have be to be. We need to be aware constantly what we are saying and how we are acting. We never know how it may effect someone or how it may effect someone standing near listening in on our conversation or watching how we are acting in a situation.
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness. Titus 2:7
This says it all doesn't it? Follow in Christ's steps! Show integrity in all that you do, by this men will know your true heart, your heart for seeking God's will. If you lack anything, go before God and ask for it, He is just to give it to you. It is His desire for you to do His will and He will provide you with all the tools and skills needed to accomplish His purposes. God loves us so much, much more than we can ever imagine, and He is just waiting to bless us if we will only obey.
Heavenly Father, we are in awe by your greatness and your love for us sinners. Thank you Father for being patient with me while I grow to become the person you desire. Thank Father for your looking over me when I am away from you, I know that you will never leave me, you are always there for me whenever I call. Thank you for your teachings of instructions on how to live the life you desire for me. "What an awesome God we serve" We are so blessed to be a part of your Heavenly Kingdom, praise be to you Father. It is in Jesus name we pray..........amen
