Guiding Light!Eternal Life! And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we are in God because we are in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life. 1 John 5:20 This is the promise God has given to us who believe in His Son Christ Jesus. We need not hope or wonder if we will be with God in Heaven for eternity, it is a promise never to be broken. We have assurance because God Himself said it. I was reminded of this promise earlier this week when a friend's 18 year old son was shot and killed. This was a tragic incident that makes us all realize how fragile life is here on earth. We are but a vapor in time, here for a moment and gone the next moment. Eternity is a long time compared to life on earth, are you prepared for eternity? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 Through this young man's sudden death it has caused a lot of people to re-evaluate their life and their purposes. What is important in life? Is it having a new house? Is is having a new car? Is is having a lot of money? Is it having status in your community? Is it being secure for our financial future? Or is it being secure in your eternal life with God? If God isn't your #1 priority I suggest you take some time to re-evaluate your life and your goals. You must never worship or bow down to them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not share your affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the sins of those who hate me, but I punish the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations. Exodus 20:5 The LORD is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and wrath. He takes revenge on all who oppose him and furiously destroys his enemies! Nahum 1:2 We can see it is not good to provoke God to anger. Do not worship idols and false God's. Anything we worship in place of God becomes an idol and we are walking on dangerous ground before God. After all who should be most important in our life than our creator? We can say He is and claim to our friends He is, but are we acting and showing God that He truly is the most important person in our life? After we receive Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are called to do good works. It is the fruit of our belief and our love for God that causes us to do good works. By this we are storing up treasures in Heaven and not here on earth where moth and rust destroy. "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:19-20 The thought for this week is: What are my priorities in life? How do I need to re-evaluate my priorities?
