Sorrow!

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33

Being a Christian does not remove us from the world in the sense that we will not experience the trials and sorrows that is present in daily life. It does though give us the hope of God''s love knowing that He cares for His children and He will always be there in our time of grief. We need only turn to Him and trust Him to carry us through all of our trials.

When you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love. I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you. John 15:10-12

To receive God's joy in our lives we are called to obey God's word and to love one another. I have a friend who is grieving over an injustice a friend has done to her. This friend has lied and mislead her to believe something that is not true, something that is very personal and has caused great distrust and anger towards the other person.

When we harbor these feelings it only hurts us not the other person, because usually we don't tell the other person of our hurt and frustration. We tend to hold on to these crummy feelings and wallow in our self pity. Why? Are we a glutton for punishment? No I don't think so, sometimes we just think we are in control and that we have to handle everything on our own. What happens when you do this? I know when I do it, it never comes out right, it always ends up in a mess.

When this happens to us it is a wake up call, who are we trusting in? Ourselves or God? We don't need to carry these burdens, we can take them to God and trust in Him for all things. Maybe, just maybe God allows these things to happen so we can grow in our faith and trust in HIm. What do you think?

"Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. John 14:1

.....for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. 2 Timothy 1:12b

So my friends, let it go, give it to God, for He is faithful and just to care for His children. Pass the test of the trial, overcome with great joy knowing that God is in charge and that He will bring you through this trial safe and secure in His powerful love. Forgive the trespasses of those who have hurt you, show God's love and mercy so you are a living example of what Christ Jesus did for us.

Heavenly Father, creator of the universe, creator of all things great and small, omnipresent, all powerful in everything, we humbly come to you today asking your forgiveness for not trusting in you in all things. Strengthen us Father to be overcomes for your love, we seek to do Your will and to fulfill your purposes set out for us. We commit to You today to try harder to become more like Christ, the example set before us. We are available to you today to be used by You in anyway You desire. Thank you Lord for your love and your many blessings you shower on us daily, thank you for Jesus, our Lord and Savior. It is in His powerful name we pray......amen
