Guiding Light!Set your mind on Christ! Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. Romans 8:5-8 We must be under the predominate influence of one or the other of these two principles. One will have the mastery over us and will be our character and our actions. Which one do you conscientiously choose? We must make a conscience decision daily and moment by moment to follow God and His instructions. If we truly love God then we will want to do the things He requires of us. Do not be led by the whims of earthly desires, but instead be led by the calling of the Spirit that lives within us which is the word of God. Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 As Paul was telling Timothy the desires of the flesh are youthful attitudes, not those of a mature Christian. Guard yourself from youthful desires that lead to a warring of the heart and mind with God. The faster and the further we flee from that which is evil the quicker we will develop the attitude of Christ, seeking righteousness, faith, love and peace. Here is what the Bible says about these words; Righteousness- What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." Romans 4:3 However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. Romans 4:5 Faith- For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." Romans 1:17 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. Romans 3:22 Love- Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:10 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Corinthians 13:4 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Galatians 5:22 Peace- but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Romans 2:10 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; Romans 8:6 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3 With this in mind let us live according to what God has instructed us to do, so that we may be called a child of God. Heavenly Father, teach us, lead us, and encourage us to become the child you desire. It is our sincere desire to be obedient to your calling and instructions that we may one day hear you say to us, "Well done good and faithful servant." Father, we thank you for your word and for the desire in our heart to seek your instructions to become a child of God. Heavenly Father, when we step out of line be gracious to us and bring us back on track so that we don't wander too far. Father, we thank you for your many, many blessings and we thank you for your love for us. We look forward to the day we will all be with you in Heaven............in Jesus name we pray.........amen In Christ Service, Kenny Millhouse kenny@guidinglightministry.com This is a weekly service brought to you by Guiding Light Ministry, if you enjoy receiving these messages, please send us an email sharing your thoughts and words of encouragement.
