Guiding Light!
Encourage!
But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief. Job 16:5
As we read this passage from Job we need to be encouraged to act and not just think about encouraging someone. This is an action statement, calling us to do something. From that action there is a reaction and that is relief to the one receiving the encouragement. There is nothing profound or mysterious about this statement, it is quite simple, "Encourage"
We all have good intentions and we talk to one another about doing or saying something special to someone, but then that is as far as it goes. Good intentions are the same as no intentions if they are not acted upon. Now I know you say, I am too busy or I forgot. Excuses! What if God forgot to sacrifice Jesus Christ on the cross for us? What if He said, "I had good intentions to save you sinners, but I got busy and couldn't make the time", or, "Darn, I had good intentions to bring you eternal salvation, but I forgot to take to time to get it done."
No, God did not forget to save us sinners or to give us eternal life, He acted upon His intentions. He not only took the time to save us, but, He showed us the way in which we should live by example of His son Jesus Christ. So, I ask you this, What are we doing to show our gratitude?
Think of the last time someone said something nice to you or complimented you for something, or even more, sent you a card or note writing it down on paper how special you are to them, how did that make you feel? It made you feel quite special didn't it? Indeed it did, we all need to know we are special and thought about by someone, especially by someone we hardly know. As Paul said in Acts, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
This challenge I give to you today; put 10 pennies in your left pocket, each time you compliment or send a card to someone, take a penny out of your left pocket and put it in your right pocket. At the end of the week see how many pennies changed pockets. You may be surprised that not many pennies have changed pockets.
Today I send all of you a bright smile and God's best blessings on you. And by the way, I like the smile you are wearing today, it brightens everything around you and sends me joy. Also, I see the love of God radiating out of your whole body telling me you are my friend. Thank you my friends for your love, may you feel God's presence today and let it overflow to all you meet.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for not just having good intentions, but for acting on your love for us and sending your Son Jesus Christ to fulfill your intentions to bring us eternal life in your Kingdom. Let us be the example that Jesus was for us in completing and fulfilling your commands. Today I will reach out and touch at least one person Father, and I will continue to grow in your love for one another not only in thought but in actions. Heavenly Father, we thank you that you chose us before time to be your child, and we commit ourselves today to do you will on earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus name we pray.....amen
