Guiding Light!Praise God!I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. Psalm 86:12 Praising God is a God-appointed calling. Indeed, God has formed for himself a people "that they may proclaim God's praise". In giving yourself to praise the worshiper declares his absolute position with God's purposes. Since God is holy and fully good, God is not to be faulted, as some do, for requiring praise of himself. Praise is fitting for what is the highest good, God himself. Praise is both a duty and a delight. Reasons for Praising God. In addition to being the fulfillment of a calling, praise is prompted by other considerations, most of all which is the unique nature of God. One example of the psalms is characterized by an initial order, such as "Praise the Lord, " which is followed by a declaration of praise, introduced by the word "for", which lists the reasons for offering praise, often God's majesty and mercy. God's merciful kindness is great, and his truth endures forever. Other hymns point out that God is good or that his ordinances are just, that his love is enduring. The biblical examples of praise to God, apart from citing his attributes and role, point to God's favors, usually those on a large scale in behalf of Israel. A hymn in Isaiah encourages, "Sing praise to the Lord for his glorious achievement". God's most spectacular action involves the life of Jesus, an event heralded in praises by angels in the heavens. Glory to God in the highest. Praise is the legitimate response to God's self-revelation. An intimate relationship of a person with God is sufficient reason for praise. Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD! Praise him, you who serve the LORD, you who serve in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; celebrate his wonderful name with music. Psalms 135:1-3 When we keep our heart and thoughts on praising God we will be filled with His love and grace and nothing or anyone can take away our joy. Take time today to study more of God's attributes to realize how great and awesome He really is and worthy of our praises. Meditate on God's holiness and love and you will find yourself right in the center of God's will. Heavenly Father, we sing praises to you for your great and mighty works and the deliverance of our soul through the birth, death and resurrection of your son Jesus Christ. Father I rejoice in the realization that you take enjoyment in loving me. It is our desire Father to bring all honor and glory to you in all that we do. We are a blessed people, those that belong to you. Thank you Father for drawing us to you and keeping us in your fold.
