Christian Unity!
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. Romans 15:6-7
Accept one another! Do you find this hard to do at times? I know I sure do, there is a person in my life that I find very difficult at times to accept. As I reflect on the reason why I have a difficult time accepting this person, I have come to the conclusion that it is because I am being judgmental because this person does not meet up to my standards or expectations. Forgive me Father, I know I am walking on dangerous ground when I become the judge of another person. Thank you for revealing to me in scriptures this morning how wrong I have been. For it is said;
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37
You know my heart Lord, You know it is not my intentions to be disobedient and I seek your forgiveness for being out of line. Be patient with me Lord as I learn daily to walk in your word more obediently.
I believe God places these people in our lives to grow us into the Godly character that He desires. I use to ask God to remove these people from my life, but now I ask God to change me so that I may be more loving and tolerant towards them. If I didn't have thorns in my life how would I grow? I would always be thinking life is a bed of roses and we all know there can't be roses without thorns. So I thank Him for the obstacles in my life and seek His power and strength to overcome them with love. After all this is what the entire Bible is all about, isn't it? Love!
Heavenly Father, thank you for the thorns, thank you for the opportunity to grow in your grace and thank you for the wisdom and understanding to change. It is our desire to become more like Jesus loving in all things and in all ways. Today we will try to be a better person for you, seeking your guidance and your strength to overcome our weaknesses. We honor and praise you in the name of Jesus Christ.....amen
